Watercolour Painting

Painting Tips To help you decide what paint to use
How to choose between oils, acrylics, Watercolors and pastels
One In the first decision you should do when you start painting is what kind of paint (also called medium) to use. The following information is intended to be informative and help you decide on the most commonly used paints.
What is the painting and what is the difference between each type of paint?
The technical bit short!
The paint is a dispersion of pigments, resins and other charges in a liquid. By varying the basic ingredients of various types of paint can be created.
Oil painting
Oil paints as the name suggests contain oil. It is usually a natural vegetable oil as Linseed or from synthetic hydrocarbon oil.
Oil is the company for users of pigments and resins (alkyd). The pigments provide color that can the form of a dye soluble or insoluble in a finely dispersed powder to liquid. The different colors are made by one or more pigments together. Through various different values, not just different colors, but shades of color may occur.
Resin is dissolved oil and acts as a binder for various ingredients and, and also binds to the surface paint is applied a.
When the liquid evaporates after application, the resin and the pigments remain and form a skin that sticks above the painting.
Acrylic paints are similar in composition in oil paints, ie, similar in appearance and contains a liquid carrier, pigments and resins. However, the liquid used is water.
The resin is not the same type as in oil paints, because it should bring together the water. The resin does not dissolve in water but forms an emulsion (forms globules). When the water evaporates the globules of resin sticks to form a skin. The pigments used must also add the water and then chemically different pigments of the oil.
Watercolors
Watercolors consist of pigments, fillers and water if they are in liquid form, or colored and solid filler. Like no resin component to bind the pigments and form a skin surface is based on applying, that absorbent. Filling is a fine powder that can be used as a carrier for the pigment and provides the texture / body.
Cakes
Cakes will form a solid paste colored water. Much less water is used for doing so (compared to liquid paints) and water-soluble binders are used to maintain their way of solid paste. Oil based pastels are similar, with far more waste oil used in making paints oil.
What's the difference practices various types of paints?
Oils:
• dry slowly allowing time work and color mixing. Temperature air you work, and the proportion of diluent used dictates the drying time
• can be used to generate structure with layers of construction
• If there is not enough, can be over-painted no income underlying layers
• rich and deep colors maintain their intensity when dry, so it is done and return later without changing color
• You can use thick or thin, with lava flowing increase the chance that the different techniques of painting
• The colors are resistant to bleaching of the day and the surface is clean of dirt from methylated spirits
• full waterproof and resistant to the elements
• require cleaning brush / turpentine to clean brushes
• Average applied to surface absorbents, including board, wood, coated paper and canvas
Acrylic:
• Fast drying, but still gives him time to work and the mixture of colors. This may be a disadvantage when working with applications based on heat
• more viscous oils easiest way to mix, but likely to generate more texture and brushstrokes
• Can be mixed with water or other means / gels that are compatible with water
• be used densely (filling), such as oil, or in thin washes, like waterclours, so it is used on both absorbent and nonabsorbent
• When dry can be over-painted without altering the underlying layers
• water resistant when dry
• dry darker than when applied which can provide problems with uniform color if left
• more resistant to sunlight than oil, the surface is clean of dirt from methylated spirits
• Need water cleaning brushes, but can cause problems when dry brush before washing
Watercolors:
• mixed with water giving transparent color
• Dries faster and require pre-wet the surface to heat
• strong tendency to bleed good for general washing method, but may be difficult for the definition of fine
• The clarification is making it difficult to fix or cover up mistakes
• colors dry lighter than when applied can cause problems with color matching if left
• no white paint in watercolor, the white paper that comes from working. So it is can be difficult making high light high-profile targets without prior planning or mask
• Paint can be soaking up so it can be useful in several ways, but may be difficult to use in wet or dry, hot soak is necessary
• Brushes clean up easily with water and paint are reusable when dry by adding water
• color intensity was less compared to other media and tends to bleach direct sunlight. Problem in in-color for the support and the media that may occur in wet conditions
• difficult to clean the surface without damage must be protected from the elements under glass or other suitable material
Cakes:
• The colors are mixed with paper / media over-mixing or laying so without building a time
• Easy to use and requires no brushes
• cake base oil can be diluted and mixed with turpentine, or discarded to reveal the colors below, known as sgraffito
• a wide range of colors are available, however, often require a wide range of colors to create an image when compared to other media
• Different brands and pigments often vary so smoothness of difficulty may arise from the getting supply from different suppliers
• pastel works tend to be colored stigma and help those less precautions such as fasteners or brackets are used to maintain the outside surface of the crystal structure
Other considerations:
Cost:
• Watercolors is the Cheapest set with most budding artists at the beginning of it. However, watercolor requires different techniques from other media and may limit the development
• Acrylic is cheaper to buy the oil and can be the bridge between oil and watercolor
• oil is more expensive to buy initially, but a little goes a long widespread way to paint. Many oils are made from a tube of each of the basic colors
Risks:
Oil Painting:
Some people are intimidated by oil paints because the solvents in question, you may be allergic to solvents or solvents would be when young children are about at. However, the Oil Paintings themselves usually contain the airline flaxseed oil with low odor and is essentially nontoxic. The pigments are required for oil and not available to provide risk. Turpentine turpentine and used as solvents or cleaners are burning brush and should be used sparingly. However, the volume used is very small and the risk is much lower when compared to household paints. That said, low odor version of the frame is available.
Acrylic:
Acrylics are the least dangerous, as it is not used solvents and pigments remain tied to the paint.
Watercolors:
Can be dangerous if used traditional pigments, because they are not bound by the resin and dried to a fine powder. However, the quantity used is so small that the risk is very small.
Cakes:
Similar to Watercolors, soft pastels, however, can generate a lot of dust so that should be taken to reduce the amount you inhale. For example, no setback in their work to remove loose pastel.
Your choice of paint
Select as What suits your paint. Try them out and soon discover if you work him and get the results you or not. If you want certain properties various paints, you can try to work with a mix of oils (known as Mixed Media) in a painting. The change is both difficult and rewarding.
