Modern Paintings in Vietnam â € "rise above the identity crisis!
Think of Modern Painting, or more Specifically, think Asian modern paintings, and think of Vietnamese modern paintings. Contemporary Art from Vietnam in recent years has become a considerable force. Since its recent emancipation from its socio-political shackles which have long been confined to a rather provincial existence, Vietnamese Modern Art has flourished in all its splendor a surprise international audience.

Modern paintings in Vietnam had its roots in the merger of two very different forces – the liberal French and Vietnamese traditionalism. Two of the strongest influences that modern art shape of Vietnam have been through this brutal French colonialism on the one hand, and a steady stream of patriotic Vietnamese. Before 'Doi Moi', Vietnam perestroika (renovation) began in 1986, behind modern art Viet Nam has been little discussed in Vietnam, because this debate necessarily address the role of the Ecole Superieure des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine (Indochina Fine Arts College), founded by liberal thought French artist Victor Tardieu. During his 20 years of operation between 1925 and 1945, the school has trained more than 100 Vietnamese painters, the sculptors and architects who formed the nucleus of pioneers in the modern art of Vietnam. Although the pioneers of Viet Nam were mainly inspired and led its artistic traditions in Vietnam, the school thought he was too closely associated with French colonialism deserves mention. It was almost taboo.
Recent events, however, have made a conscious effort to put things in balance while recognizing both the catalytic role of the School and the vital contribution of Vietnamese artists pioneer in the development of art modern Vietnam. The year 1996 saw the Government of the prestigious award for 7 artists Vietnamese Ho Chi Minh, who all graduated from the Ecole Superieure Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine. In 2000, the College of Fine Arts in Hanoi and other local art institutions have sponsored a meeting many old School students and their families to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the School.
So how to interpret the situation of art Modern Vietnam today? Perhaps he tends to say he has a strange duality. Although Western trends continue to be felt their presence in the style and techniques, essentially, it is not overwhelming to be reported in local issues. Modern paintings based Vietnam heavily on local issues and the Vietnamese culture and tradition.
This duality is the new identity for the art modern Vietnam. This is not a question of conflicting ideals. It is one of the happiest mixture of both.
